This luxurious 100% sheepskin rug is a unique blend of sheepskins from Iceland, the Faroe Islands and the Dutch Island of Texel. The curly coats come from Austrian mountain sheep. The rugs are skillfully crafted into a stunning piece that can serve as both a cozy rug and an eye-catching tapestry. Each rug is one-of-a-kind, featuring a mix of longhair and shorn sheepskins in varied colors, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and quality. 

The sheepskins are tanned with environmentally friendly substances, which keeps the leather fuller, softer and thicker. Tanning uses alum (mordant), synthetic and natural tanning agents. The synthetic tanning agent provides more filling.

Sewn in The Netherlands, this rug combines distinctive colors and textures into a singular work of art. The meticulous process of sewing together each piece results in a durable and visually captivating addition to any space, perfect for adding warmth and elegance to your home.  Crafted in small batches—availability is limited. Van Buren Bolsward is the only sheepskin tannery in the Netherlands, with a storied tradition dating back to 1861. Known for its commitment to quality and durability, the company crafts sheepskin coats and other leather products that offer warmth, comfort, and natural beauty.

The business, now in its fifth generation, was founded by Sjoerd van Buren in the village of Oosterlittens. Initially focused on skinning and trading, the company moved to Bolsward in 1903 and has specialized in high-quality sheep fur, wool, and leather since 1969. Under the leadership of Thomas and Rients van Buren, and later Jolt van Buren, the company continues to innovate while honoring its rich heritage. Van Buren Bolsward remains dedicated to producing timeless, high quality products that enhance daily life.
