Dried marigolds for marigold natural remedies
Marigold, also known as Calendula officinalis, is a bright and cheery flower that has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. Here are three of our favorite natural remedy recipes using marigolds:
1. Marigold Salve: This salve is great for soothing dry, irritated, or inflamed skin.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup dried marigold flowers
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup beeswax pellets
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
Instructions:
  1. In a double boiler or a glass bowl set over a pot of boiling water, combine the marigold flowers and olive oil.
  2. Heat on low for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine-mesh sieve, pressing out as much oil as possible.
  4. Return the infused oil to the double boiler or glass bowl and add the beeswax pellets.
  5. Heat on low until the beeswax is melted and fully combined with the oil.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the lavender essential oil (if using).
  7. Pour the mixture into small jars or tins and let cool completely before using.
2. Marigold Tea: Drinking marigold tea is a great way to soothe digestive issues and boost the immune system.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tbsp dried marigold flowers
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Honey or lemon, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Place the dried marigold flowers in a tea infuser or strainer.
  2. Pour the boiling water over the flowers and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Remove the infuser or strainer and add honey or lemon, if desired.
  4. Drink the tea while it's still warm.
3. Marigold Hair Rinse: This hair rinse can help soothe an itchy scalp and add shine to your hair.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup dried marigold flowers
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions:
  1. Place the marigold flowers in a large glass jar or bowl.
  2. Pour the boiling water over the flowers and let steep for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine-mesh sieve.
  4. Stir in the apple cider vinegar.
  5. After shampooing and conditioning your hair, pour the marigold rinse over your hair, making sure to saturate your scalp and hair.
  6. Let the rinse sit on your hair for a few minutes, then rinse with cool water.
